Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on my first lesson?

Walking through the front door is the hardest step, but once you're here, you'll be welcomed by warm, friendly faces at Celebrity Ballroom. Upon arrival, you'll be guided to scan a QR code that connects you to our digital form—this helps us tailor your experience right from the start. After that, we’ll give you a brief tour of our studio, so you can get familiar with the space. Your instructor will then take a few moments to ask some "get to know you" questions to better understand your goals and preferences.

During your first lesson, you'll be introduced to the basic fundamentals of social dancing, including the concepts of lead and follow and proper dance frame. You’ll also learn the foundational steps of one or two dances, so you can get moving right away. Before your lesson concludes, your instructor will review our dance package options with you and help you choose the one that best suits your needs and goals.

What should I wear to my dance lesson?

We recommend smart casual clothing that allows you to move comfortably. For footwear, choose something snug and secure on your foot—avoid flip flops, loose sandals, clunky rubber shoes, or steel-toed boots. Flat shoes, dress shoes, low-heel boots, or Keds-type tennis shoes are all great options. Please note that stiletto heels are not allowed on our dance floor. While dance shoes are not required for beginner lessons, they are highly encouraged once you advance to level 2 and are required for level 3.

Do I need a partner to take dance lessons?

No, you do not need a partner to start learning how to dance. In fact, many students find they can learn even more when they come in solo. During your lessons, your instructor will be your partner, ensuring you receive personalized guidance. In our group lessons, there will be plenty of partners to dance with, and at our social dances, we all dance with everyone, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

How long are the dance lessons, and how often should I take them?

After your initial 30-minute introductory private lesson, our standard private and group lessons are 45 minutes each. To ensure you get the most out of your dance experience, we require that you take at least 1 private lesson per week and suggest attending at least 2 group lessons and 2 practice sessions per month as part of your guaranteed lesson plan.

For the best results, we recommend taking 1-3 private lessons per week, 1-2 group lessons per week, and 1 practice session per week. However, we understand that everyone has different schedules, so we’re happy to tailor our lesson plans to fit your needs.

Do I pick what dance we learn or do you?

We use a proven system to start you off with the most popular social dances, giving you a strong foundation and a taste of different dance styles. This approach helps you understand the various types of dances, so you can make informed decisions about your goals and which dances you want to focus on. You’re welcome to let us know any specific dances you’d like to learn, and we’ll incorporate those into your lessons. However, we also ensure you learn a variety of dances, so you’ll be confident and ready to dance in any social setting. As you progress, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the dance styles that best align with your interests and goals.

How much do lessons cost?

The cost of dance lessons can vary depending on the package you choose. Our packages typically start around $250 to $600. Learning to dance is an investment in yourself, similar to purchasing a set of golf clubs or another hobby that brings you joy and personal growth. We offer a range of packages to fit different budgets and goals, and we’re happy to help you find the one that’s right for you.

What if I have no dance experience?

That’s wonderful! We absolutely love working with beginners—it’s one of our favorite things to do. In fact, 90% of our students started out as complete beginners, just like you. Our studio is all about creating a supportive and fun environment where you can discover the joy of dancing. We’re here to guide you every step of the way, and we can’t wait to help you unlock the dancer within!

No experience is needed—just a willingness to have fun and learn something new!

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours' notice by phone call, voicemail, or text to 678-653-8003. Lessons canceled within 24 hours will be deducted from your account. Your understanding and cooperation help us keep our schedule running smoothly for everyone.

What if I just want to take group lessons? or only private lessons?

At our studio, we believe in the "trio of success," which includes private lessons, group lessons, and practice sessions. This balanced approach is essential to truly mastering dance. Private lessons give you personalized attention, group lessons allow you to practice with different partners and learn from others, and practice sessions provide the opportunity to solidify what you've learned in a social setting.

We don’t offer a la carte lessons or packages that include only group lessons because we know that all three components are crucial for your long-term progress. However, we won’t force you to attend group lessons and practice sessions. If you choose to focus solely on private lessons, that’s your choice—but please keep in mind that without the full trio, your progress may be slower and less comprehensive.

Our goal is to help you become a confident dancer, and our trio of success is designed to get you there as efficiently and enjoyably as possible.

How long will it take me to learn to dance?

The time it takes to learn to dance depends on your goals and how often you practice. If you’re focused on mastering the basics, you can expect to feel comfortable with those within about 1 month. For comfortable and confident social dancing, most students reach that level within 2 to 8 months, depending on the frequency of their lessons and practice sessions.

However, many of our students continue beyond their initial goals to further enhance their skills. Dancing is a lifelong journey for many, offering social fun, staying active, and even exploring competitive dancing. We have students who have been taking lessons for 8 years, constantly learning and enjoying the process. Wherever your dance journey takes you, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Where can I use the dance skills I learn?

You can use your dance skills in a variety of settings, including weddings, social events, galas, and, of course, at our weekly social dances. Our studio has a busy calendar full of events where you can put your skills to the test. We’re a full-service dance studio, which means not only do we teach you how to dance, but we also provide plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy dancing regularly!

What age groups do you cater to? Do you teach adults?

We specialize in teaching adults aged 21 and older. Our students range in age from 21 to 85, with most of our students being in the 50 to 70 age range. While we do not offer lessons for children, our focus is on providing an enriching and enjoyable experience for adults who are looking to learn, stay active, and have fun through dance.

We only teach adult dance lessons. We do not teach kids.

Do you offer wedding dance lessons?

Yes! Please click here to see more information.

Is there a membership required?

Yes, we are a members-only studio. All of our members go through out fundamental and foundational levels to ensure a strong start in their dance journey and skills. Membership allows us to maintain the highest quality of instruction and create an exclusive, personalized experience for each student.

Can I bring my children to my lesson?

Yes, you can! We’re a family-friendly studio, and we understand that finding a babysitter isn’t always easy—our owners have small children themselves. We provide playpens, children’s books, coloring activities, and streaming services on a TV to keep your little ones entertained.

They can also relax on one of our comfy couches with an electronic device or a book you bring from home.

We do ask that children not attend our social events, as these sometimes include wine and are intended for adults only.
